Companies House advise of WebFiling security issue

Companies House has announced a security issue with their WebFiling service. Andy King, Chief Executive of Companies House, has shared that authorised users of the WebFiling service may have been able to access and change other company’s details. The breach was not available to the general public, and only logged in users would have been able to make changes.

Data which could have been altered includes dates of birth, residential addresses and company email addresses. Unauthorised filings, including accounts or changes of director, could have been made on another company’s record. Passwords and other information, such as passport information and filed documents, have not been affected.

The WebFiling service was closed between 1:30pm on Friday 13 March and 9am on Monday 16 March to enable the issue to be resolved.

What do you need to do

Please check your registered details and filing history to make sure everything appears correct. If you have any concerns, please raise a complaint including any evidence.
